Where will I live?

There are lots of different options, which each have pros and cons. If you have children or are pregnant, you need to think carefully about what sort of place you need, and what you can realistically afford.

What if I need somewhere immediately?

If you've nowhere to stay, don't panic. Check out your emergency options or call our free housing advice helpline on 0808 800 4444. An adviser can't house you, but may be able to help you find a place to stay. Don't forget that you may get help from the Housing Executive.

Can I get financial help?

Check out our information on the help you may be able to get. If you're under 25, a full time student, or have been in care, there are special rules on housing benefit. These will affect you while you are pregnant, but once you have children, you'll probably be exempt. The rules are complicated so talk to an adviser if you need help.

Can the Housing Executive help me?

If you don't have anywhere to stay, the Housing Executive may have to help you. Most parents and pregnant women are in priority need, so they are usually entitled to at least short-term housing. Apply as homeless as soon as you can. And if they won't help, don't be put off. Get help from an adviser if you need it.
