In this context confidentiality means information will be kept within the organisation, i.e. members of staff will be able to discuss a case with other appropriate members of staff but will not disclose information to any outside party.
In respect of legal services casework it will often be necessary to engage counsel with whom it will be necessary to share client information in the best interests of the client’s case. No personal information about any client shall be used or communicated in any way without obtaining the prior permission of the client – this shall always be sought at the outset by use of the appropriate authorisation form.
