Each grant has a different maximum limit. This maximum amount can be less than the actual cost of the building work. You will have to pay the difference yourself.
Your local Grants Office has more information on how the grants scheme works.
Replacement grants
You can get up to £31,500 for a replacement grant. The Housing Executive will use a 'test of resources' before deciding how much you are entitled to get.

Renovation grants
You can get up to £25,000 for a renovation grant. The Housing Executive will use a 'test of resources' before deciding how much you are entitled to get.

House in multiple occupation grant
You can get up to £25,000 for a house in multiple occupation (HMO) grant. You can't apply for a HMO grant if you haven't registered the property with the Housing Executive's HMO registration scheme.
You will usually have to pay some money toward the cost of the building work. The Housing Executive decides how much you should pay by using the 'landlord payments' test.

Home repairs assistance grant
You can get up to £5,000 over three years for a home repairs assistance grant. The amount of money you get depends on the type of work you need carried out, not your personal circumstances. The Housing Executive doesn't carry out a 'test of resources'.

Disabled facilities grant
You can get up to £25,000 for a disabled facilities grant. In some circumstances, this award can be increased by a further £25,000 at the discretion of the Housing Executive and with approval from the Department for Social Development. You will usually only get a disabled facilities grant if an occupational therapist recommends the work. The Housing Executive will use a 'test of resources' before deciding how much you get.

Repair grants
You can get up £7,500 for a repairs grant. The amount you get depends on the type of work needed and the net annual valuation (NAV) of the property. You can find out the NAV of your property by contacting the Land and Property Services.
The amount of grant you get depends on the NAV of your property:
- Less than £60 per year, you will get 100% of the grant
- between £60 and £131 per year, you will get 75% of the grant
- between £131 and £225 per year you will get 50% of the grant
- over £225 per year, you will get 25% of the grant.
You will automatically get 90% of the grant if:
- you have a protected tenancy
- you receive a means tested benefit (jobseeker's allowance or income support).

Common parts grant
The amount available for a common parts grant depends on:
- the size of the accommodation
- the number of tenants
- the type of work needed.
The Housing Executive will also use a 'test of resources' before deciding how much you get.
Due to a funding shortfall, the Housing Executive is currently prioritising grants awards. This means that some grants may be generally unavailable until further funds are secured.
