Your housing benefit statements may show that you are getting less housing benefit if you are getting Supporting People services. This is because the full cost of the support service is now paid to the provider, rather than as part of your housing benefit.

How does supporting people affect my housing benefit?

The fact that you get Supporting People services won't affect your housing benefit. Your housing benefit statements may show that you are getting less housing benefit if you are getting Supporting People services. This is because housing benefit is used to pay for rent or rates as well as support services.

The full cost of your support services is paid directly by the Housing Executive to the person who provides the service. This may mean that your housing benefit statements show that you are receiving less money. However, Supporting People will ensure that you are not worse off because you are receiving support services.
