If you own or rent you home from a private landlord you may be able to get help from government to keep your home warm. There are two levels of help available: Warm homes grantsYou can apply for a grant of up to £850 to carry out:
• loft insulation • cavity wall insulation • hot water cylinder jackets • benefit entitlement check • energy advice.
You can apply for a Warm homes grant if you are in receipt of:
• housing benefit, or • housing benefit rate rebate, or • income support, or • income based job seekers allowance, or • income related employment and support allowance, or • pension credit, or • child tax credit, or • working tax credit, or • disability living allowance, or • attendance allowance.
Warm homes plus grantsIf your home needs additional energy efficiency measures, such as heating or complex insulation, this will be established during the first level grant assessment and you may be passported onto the Warm homes plus scheme.
You can currently get up to £4,300 from the Warm homes plus scheme, in order to:
• convert a bottled gas, solid fuel or Economy 7 heating system to oil or natural gas, • install a new oil or gas system in a property that had no heating previously, and • put in insulation that costs more than the maximum award of first level Warm homes grant.
You will only be eligible for a Warm homes plus grant if you are in receipt of:
• housing benefit, or • housing benefit rate rebate, or • income support, or • income related employment and support allowance, or • income based jobseeker's allowance, or • pension credit, or • working tax credit.
Applying for a Warm homes grantThe Warm homes scheme is managed by two companies: H&A mechanicals Services LTD and Bryson Charitable Group.
