Unsecure tenancies Print E-mail

Some housing association tenants have unsecure tenancies. This means that you will usually have similar rights to all other private tenants . Your rights are outlined in your tenancy agreement .

Most people who rent from housing associations are secure tenants . You will usually only be an unsecure tenant if you share your home with people other than family members. For example, if you rent from the Student Housing Association Co-operative (SHAC) you will probably be an unsecure tenant.

Rights of unsecure tenants

Unsecure tenants usually aren't allowed to:

Your housing association must still carry out repairs if you are an unsecure tenant.

Contact your housing association if you are unsure whether or not you are an unsecure tenant.
